This is as CRAFTY as I'm getting lately...

Plants that CAN'T DIE!

I haven't crafted much in awhile. I'm kind of in a crafting rut of sorts. Perhaps, it's because I have been busy Spring cleaning, or focusing on my eating (trying to go 100% gluten free) or just because I don't feel like it... which is weird!

OR

Maybe I'm getting old! I always thought that the older you get, the more you start to find an affinity for plants... and I think I hit that stage! So, much so, that we are planning on creating a garden in the backyard! YEAH... a G-A-R-D-E-N! Is this really me typing those words?!?! or have I been possessed?! Seriously!!!  I started to pay attention to plants and flower arrangements the moment I hit 29.. So yeah, it's all downhill from here! Just love for plants, and the beginning of low impact activities such as catalog browsing! Lets also throw in some activia yogurt while I'm at it!

Anyway, at least plants make things beautiful at home. Still, not trusting my green thumb just yet, I decided to recreate a cute arrangement I saw at the Four Season's hotel in Austin. I wanted to recreate the bowl arrangements. They used real succulents, but I created the look with some fake plants. Even though, the plants are easy to care for, I still wanted it to play safe, because if there is one person that can kill a cactus, that would be me!

This is my inspiration! I loved the earthy feel the rocks and moss create! I decided that I liked the bowl, but I wanted it to be ceramic instead.
I went to hobby lobby and picked up rocks, fake succulent plants and some moss. The bowl I found at Pier 1 for $7 dollars. I liked the sheen of the bowl, along with the gradient color. It was the right size too, so it was perfect!

I arranged the moss, rocks, and succulents plants on the bowl the way I wanted them. I cut the stems with wire cutters on the "plants" and they sit flat on the bowl.

I like how it turned out! It now sits at my entry table, and I love it!

Simply craft!

Downtown Waco: Plum

Plum Store in Waco!

On our way back from Austin last weekend, we stopped at the cutest shop in Waco! I had heard of this shop PLUM from facebook and pinterest, so we decided to take a peek, and it did not disappoint!

Plum is in Downtown Waco and is filled with vintage and new finds! Love the feel of the store!
I caught Matthew bored from shopping and took his picture! Good thing he didn't notice as he hates to be associated with anything girly!

I loved the decor at the store, especially this cute wallpaper! I had to take pictures of my little wallflower!
I had to get something at this cute shop! so I bought at $16 dollar flower base that is simply perfect in my dining room table!

Until next time PLUM!

Austin Trip: Part 2

Family Getaway!

We had so much fun on our little getaway! Here are some of the stuff we did on this little weekend trip to Austin:
photo (1)
We went to Amy’s Ice Cream! I’m avoiding dairy, but decided to give Amy’s a try, as they claim to have the best MEXICAN Vanilla Ice cream! I had to try!!! Only a Mexican could know if this is true!

photo (3)
The Ice Cream was good! I recommend! It is 100% Mexican approved!
photo (9)
We also went to a taco place called Torchy’s. We ate 1 taco each because they were HUGE! and filling! Austin is so organic, that I had to try their vegan taco, and I must say is was dang good!
photo (4)
If you ever go to Austin, visit torchy’s and ask for ‘The Independent’ taco! It is filled with veggies, and avocado and whatever else that is vegan but tastes so good!

The rest of the time, I slept on this bed:

After my food induced coma, we went to the Austin History museum and watched a 3D movie about Texas weather! The kids liked it!.. Well, Olivia hated the thunder part, as the entire theater shakes and lighting is seen with special lights inside the theater! Kind of scary!

We had fun! But we are glad to be back! It always takes me 3 days to recoup!

Austin Trip: Part 1

Family Getaway!

We went to Austin this past weekend! It was a last minute thing, and it was because Steve was sent to represent the Ortho Department in a competition called: 'Ortho Jeopardy' He was one of the two sent from Dallas to compete with other residents in programs in Texas. Steve and I packed up the kids.. and Dan, (the other resident) and headed to Austin for the weekend! the decision was easy, as the Hospital paid for a night's stay at the Austin Four Seasons hotel!

Here are some pictures of our weekend!
Austin Clock Tower at the University of Texas
Before getting to Austin, we stopped in West Texas at the famous Czech Stop, for some Kolaches!
The place was packed! It was good to see the support of people in this little town after the fertilizer plant explosion.
When we got to the Hotel, we were greeted by gorgeous flowers and this little succulent plant display, which I'm now obsessed over!
I'm also a little obsessed over this lamp! I know, I always find random things to obsess over when it comes to decor!
Steve and Dan made it to the jeopardy game just in time! We got stuck in traffic getting there, it would have sucked to have missed it!

Once the guys LOST, we were free to explore Austin! And lots of fun was had!

I will post more pictures tomorrow!!!

My Girl.

Olivia.

I so love being the mom of a little girl. But what I really like is being Olivia's mom. I feel so priviliged to have her as my daughter! She is such a ray of sunshine, and her optimism and smile is contagious! I have been feeling kind of poopy, but after two days with this little girl, my frown was quickly turned upside down! Now, I love my Matthew too, but there is something to the mother daugher relationship, that I feel very thankful for.

Here are some videos I took of our time at the park. We recorded ourselves spinning, on the spinning chair.

{I shot the videos with the 8mm app/ Vintage camera}

I love her so much.

Dreaming...

Designing Olivia's Room in my HEAD!

I think I have style...I just don't have the funds! Hopefully, someday! Today, I was dreaming of creating a beautiful room for my baby girl. Why? because I never had a bedroom of my own, so I think it's sort of a frustrated dream. So, this is what I was thinking, Olivia would like.

It's pink, and modern, with a dash of global. She loves stuff at World market, mainly toys, but this translates to stuff she would like!

Souce: Houzz.

But it still looks bare. So, I would add these accessories:

Ikat pillow= global looking pillow.

Source: etsy.com

We need to have actual global stuff, so this painting of Friday Kahlo fits the bill! Plus we are Mexican, so we need to bring the Mexican artists into the home.

One day...

Alone vs Lonely

Tonight.

Matthew got his adenoids out this past weekend, and he seemed to be right back to his normal self the next day.. But three days later, he has been throwing up, headaches, and his stomach hurts. I'm worried, and hope he didn't catch  the stomach bug Steve had this past weekend.

It's nights like this when I don't like being alone. Being a residents wife, you need to learn to like being alone, and sometimes I do, but not tonight. Not like this.

While Matthew is showering, I'm typing this. I'm clearly not alone, but yet I feel lonely. Steve is zonked out on the couch as he is exhausted, and again, getting back to normal after a sick weekend.

Why do I get in these funks?  At times I love being the only one caring for my kids. It makes me feel like I'm making a difference. But when I have the lonely feeling looming over me, I feel anxiety. Like things are much worse than they are. I panic, I start getting really nervous. Ugh.

Here is to hoping Matthew feels better. I guess, I will really feel not alone if he has to stay up puking. But I hope not. Not because of me, but because I feel he needs a good nights rest, even if school is out of the question at this point.

Also, I deactivated Facebook. Not because of my mood, but because I really want to keep this a diary.

Hoping tomorrow is better.

WOW, I'm a CRAPPY Blogger!

Lately...

It was so easy to maintain a blog while in San Antonio. Reason? We where away from family and the kids where growing. Now? The kids are still growing but we get to see family. Still, I loved looking at those 4 years of school and I fall in love, all over again with what we went through.

It was not easy. It was hard. But I kept it mostly positive, and when I look back at the pictures it brings back all those feelings of being in that moment. Perhaps that is a way to capture time?

In any event. I want to try to maintain my life here. Steve said I need to stop oversharing on facebook, so I will try to keep things in one place only, and I will make that place here. Hey, oversharing is part of me, and i can't change that! ;)

So, I will be here mostly. I will posts fun stuff in our residency life. Even though we are halfway through! YEAH!

Anyway, until next time.
